I don’t get it.

March 8, 2011

There is a story making the rounds cf the internet and the story was produced by some radical conservative wacko who secretly taped an NPR executive talking over dinner.

A couple of weeeks ago, the governor of Wisconsin was secretly taped discussing public employee unions.  Another youtube sensation.

Isn’t it against the law to do this kind of stuff? Why am I told every day by the utility companies, the doctors office and the banks that my phone call is being recorded for ‘training purposes’.

Where are the authorities??? Somebody needs to be arrested. This is not the way Politics should be conducted in the United States.

April 25 – My new nest.

May 20, 2010

I had to give up my room when we moved out of the condo but I did manage to find a corner in our barn apartment where I could set up the desk.  The red pillow is my Heart Pillow that was given to me after my long ago heart surgery.  On this pillow, a nurse named Mary signed it with this notation: ‘Gordon – You rock! ‘  My relatives now will, on occasion, greet me with that sentiment. I don’t know if they mean it or not.

April 21 – musical heritage.

April 22, 2010

I was at the dental clinic on the IUPUI campus in a building on Indiana Avenue.  The avenue was famous in Indianapolis for its roots in African – American jazz music.  Today the university has totally revamped the whole area where I found these two sculptures.

used instruments

This one was at the entrance to Lockefield Gardens, an apartment complex for primarily students.

This one of jazz musicians is at the intersection of west and Indiana avenues.

There is a lot to say about the Avenue but I have avoided saying anything because I would not really know what I was talking about. Suffice to say that it meant a lot to the African American community.

April 20 – new tiller.

April 19 – new tulips.

April 22, 2010

Last year about this time, Susie and I went to a tulip digging event at Garfield park. This is the result.

Monday, Susie went and dug another batch for this year. I would have went along but I was otherwise engaged. This year’s color was primarily purple.

April 18 – Two old friends.

April 22, 2010

I hesitate to publish this picture because it doesn’t put either of these guys in a good light.

old friends

We finally got a new freezer after our Westinghouse turned 40. It still worked but it looked like a refugee from the Afghan war. There is a lot to say about this guy but I’m doing it in a column and if I remember, I will post that on the geetwo blog.

The tiller is about thirty years old. I dropped it off the back of the truck last fall and smashed the pull starter housing and I figured other things as well. Susie said ‘you deserve a new tiller’ so we retired this guy. I bought a new tiller and my neighbor wanted my old one for parts. I happily gave it to him and he took it home.

About twenty minutes later, I heard a familiar sound starting to roar. It was my old tiller. I probably should kick my ass for not trying to fix it myself.

So far, I have not been able to bring myself to throw the old freezer away.

April 17 – Where are we putting everything??

April 22, 2010

Finding somewhere to keep everything after we moved out of the condo is a trying business.

April 16 – As old as time.

April 22, 2010

The pear tree was the last to bloom this year and we may get some pears from it this year.  There are many times when I doubt the existence of a higher power but when I see these beautiful trees blooming year after year, I don’t have any other way to explain it.

April 15 – more yard sale.

April 22, 2010

I took 3 truckloads to the sale and came home with four. How the hell did that happen??

April 14 – yard sale.

April 22, 2010

I have been after Susie for some time to get rid of the junk in our barn. She suggested a yard sale to be eld at our daughter’s house which meant I had to haul everything to Indianapolis but it was worth it.
